When Asperger’s Disease Diagnosis is Conclusive

It is actually very unfair to refer to Asperger’s disease – it is a condition. In the early years of Asperger’s diagnosis Doctors did not take Asperger’s seriously. The problem was due to the fact that Psychiatrists had not yet identified the condition and it wasn’t until much later when symptoms of Asperger’s syndrome were becoming strongly evident. The late Asperger’s diagnosis of adults had shed light to strange and erratic behavior that was displayed when the adults were younger. In research conducted about Asperger’s syndrome, fewer girls with Asperger’s were diagnosed than boys. This was because more boys displaying the early signs of Asperger’s. Researchers explained this through the difference in the female and male genetic make-up.

What is Asperger’s syndrome?

Considered a Pervasive Personality Disorder or PDD, Experts grouped Asperger’s with autism under this category. Although it is not a psychiatric condition, like autism, it is still crucial that Asperger’s diagnosis is done accurately to institute measures to minimize the symptoms of Asperger’s.
What are the symptoms of Asperger syndrome?
The symptoms involve a wide variety of manifestations. The most dominant symptoms of Asperger’s syndrome is insufficient social and behavioral skills, lack of empathy, sensitivity and physical coordination. Others are inability to see a bird’s eye view of things, too much attention is paid to details, and other anti-social activities.

What are the early signs of Asperger’s disease?

There are less girls with Asperger’s than boys. Early signs include the inability to form friendships with other children, being a loner who prefers to stay home and do activities on his/her own is routine behavior. Repetitive mannerisms that continue to persist and the inability to participate successfully in social groups. More symptoms center on the child’s lack of social interaction skills and lack of physical coordination. This is the basis for Asperger’s diagnosis.

What are the treatments for Asperger’s?

Most often, drugs are given to treat depression or anxiety but they do not really need these drugs because these will not have significant effects on the condition. Once Asperger’s diagnosis is certain, coping mechanisms should be taught and provided for the person. This is the most recommended therapy for Asperger’s. That is why early Asperger’s diagnosis during childhood is best because the persons can learn coping mechanisms at an early age. This would save him/her from enduring the succeeding years alone, thinking that he or she must be a freak to behave differently from the norm.
If most of these symptoms of Asperger syndrome are manifested in a person then Asperger’s diagnosis is definitely conclusive. Treatment should begin to prevent further aggravation of the condition. Proper evaluation by a Specialized Psychiatric facility is needed in all cases or when there is adequate suspicion the problem exist.
